The company works on projects ranging from spectacular courtyards to green roofs, tiered swimming pools to sculpted landscapes—and this Friday at their showroom on 203 Second Avenue South, they will take their art inside. With spring right around the corner, Outdoor Classic Structures is using the monthly art crawl to demonstrate unique ideas for enjoying the outdoors.
“By this point in the winter months, people are growing weary of spending so much time inside. We thought it would be fun to ‘garden up’ the studio and bring in an early spring,” said Owner Ernie Reynolds, and award-winning landscape designer with 30 years of experience. “We’re calling it ‘yard art.’ Our designers will think inside-out to bring the usual outdoor amenities inside for the night.”
Outdoor Classic Structures will partner with Heibert and Associates to design and install the mini-gardens throughout the house, which will include shrubs, flowers and even trees. In the front room, a wooden arbor that cantilevers over an indoor fireplace will be incorporated with seasonal plantings.
“We are constructing a small vignette of what we do,” said Marketing and Sales Director Nikki Schmidt. “Our projects are a reflection of our clients’ personalities; we really do create livable art.”
Heibert and Associate Landscape Architect Connor Ball said his team was thrilled to work on an innovative project for Franklin Art Scene guests.
“We are very excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with the Outdoor Classic Structures team,” Ball said. “We hope guests will enjoy a change of pace from the more usual, mundane garden designs.”
In addition to the indoor landscape, Outdoor Classic Structures will debut its masterfully constructed outdoor fireplace. The new backyard addition will serve as a backdrop for Franklin’s own Eric Heatherly, who will offer art crawl participants an acoustic performance.
The Franklin Art Scene is a first-Friday event presented by the Downtown Franklin Association (DFA). The crawl and its 30 plus locations are free, but a $5 wristband includes unlimited stops on the trolleys that circulate from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
In addition to an online map and QR code, a Franklin Art Scene smartphone application is now available on Google Play. The download gives users up-to-date information on the upcoming art crawl and its locations.
