The Franklin Art Scene–which recently crossed the four-year mark since the free event’s inception–continues its celebration of local artists this Friday, 6-9 p.m.
The monthly art crawl, organized by the Downtown Franklin Association (DFA), takes place the first Friday of each month in the community’s historic core and features 30-plus locations throughout Main Street and its connecting avenues.
This Friday’s locations will exhibit the best of the Williamson County art world with photography exhibits, original paintings from the abstract to the figurative as well as striking woodwork. A highlights for November 6th include:
- The Visitor Center at 400 Main Street will host Caroline Thompson, who has participated in dozens of exhibits throughout the country, and co-founded “Beautiful Art for Beautiful Minds.”
- Early’s Honey Stand on E. Main Street is exhibiting the work of Jeanne Drone, a Franklin-based photographer who will feature her images of last year’s sesquicentennial reenactment.
- Historic Franklin Presbyterian on Main Street and Fifth Avenue will feature works by Aaron Hilley and Sterling Goller-Brown, Nashville-based artists who work in a variety of mediums who are using audio tracks to accompany their visuals.
- Pedego on E. Main Street will exhibit the works of Melodie Grace, a full-time potter who spends her days working with clay and is particularly fascinated with the ancient pit-firing process of raku. Her focus is on small scale, intimate pieces adorned with carvings and smoked motifs.
- boutique MMM on the Public Square will host Christy G. Buckner, a trained artist and psychotherapist whose paintings reflect meaningful moments for herself as well as for private clients, institutions, and public parks.
- Shuff’s Music on Third Avenue North is featuring Blake Wylie, a Franklin resident who specializes in Wet Plate Collodion photography by utilizing methods used during the 1860s. Wylie uses a large format camera to produce photographs directly onto glass (ambrotypes) and metal (tintypes).
- The Bagbey House on Fourth Avenue North is hosting their annual Christmas Open House during the event, offering art inspiration in addition to giveaways and specials.
Refreshments will be provided by many of the locations, and some will feature live music throughout the event that runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
