Advisory Board Application

As a division of The Heritage Foundation of Williamson County, TN, the Downtown Franklin Association has an advisory board that serves in the Historic Downtown Franklin district and reports to the Heritage Foundation board of directors. The DFA advisory board should be a strong, working board capable of recommending policies and ideas to create positive change. Ideally, the board should be able to identify and mobilize resources, build volunteer support, develop new leadership, and maintain clear focus on the district’s needs and opportunities.


  • Advisory Board member terms span a single calendar year. They can serve 2 additional consecutive years. After a single calendar year off, they are eligible to rejoin the board.
  • Advisory Board members commit to attend a minimum of 7 out of 12 monthly Advisory Board Meetings/Committee Workshops to maintain their position on the Advisory Board.  These meetings take place on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 8:30am.
  • Advisory Board members commit to attend a minimum of 7 out of 12 monthly DFA member meetings to maintain their position on the Advisory Board. These meetings take place the 1st Thursday of each month at 8:30am, except for in February, when the member meeting takes place the 1st Thursday of the month at 6:30pm.
  • Should a meeting be rescheduled to an alternative date/time, Advisory Board member absence will not count against their minimum required attendance.
  • In addition to meeting attendance, Advisory Board members volunteer with DFA for a minimum of 12 hours/quarter – as Committee Chairs, Committee Members, or at DFA’s festival booth during Main Street Festival, PumpkinFest™, and Dickens of a Christmas.
  • Should Advisory Board member sign up to chair a committee, they agree to bring a committee report to monthly member meetings and work with the DFA Director to help lead their committee to fulfill at least one initiative from the strategic plan within the calendar year.

  • Advisory Board members may resign from their position at any time with written notice to the Managing Director, at which point another Advisory Board member may be appointed in their place according to the DFA bylaws and procedures.
  • Advisory Board members unable to meet their commitment may be released from their role with written notice, at the discretion of the Program Director and Heritage Foundation Board of Directors, at which point another Advisory Board member may be appointed in their place according to the DFA bylaws and procedures.

  • Serves on Executive Committee of the Heritage Foundation Board of Directors
