Muddy Ruckus 9pm-11pm
Muddy Ruckus is a nationally touring americana-rock duo from Portland, Maine. The stripped down power duo features guitarist Ryan Flaherty and percussionist Erika Stahl. Muddy Ruckus blends haunting male/female vocals, rootsy guitar and edgy percussion on a suitcase drum kit. Muddy Ruckus’ music can be deceiving, in that only two people are producing such a large sound . As pioneers in this recently stripped down age of music, Muddy Ruckus is trailblazing the parameters and stretching the limitations of how small a full fledged band can actually be. Fans are always amazed by the huge sound coming from only two musicians.
Muddy Ruckus’ music is an epic blend of gypsy-americana, punk-folk and suitcase rock. Flaherty, originally from Rock Island, IL, met Stahl in 2013 in Portland Maine. They played on porches, street corners and campfires and became Muddy Ruckus. An Explosive clash of American and European inspired guitar, edgy percussion, obscure lyrics and growling vocal harmonies follow suit. Muddy Ruckus pulls inspiration from the music they love – old-timey folk music, dirty blues, circa 1940 hot swing (Django Reinhardt) and American rock – dressing it with Dylan-esque lyrics that poke fun at society and examine the state of the world.
