A middle-of-the-week holiday this year means that many of you likely won’t be traveling to see family, but that’s good for us because we get to celebrate with so many of you in Franklin! There’s an exciting lineup of events planned this year for our Franklin on the Fourth celebration.
Beginning at 10 a.m. there will be music, food and craft vendors, antique cars, a kid’s zone and many more things to see on the square. The Children’s Patriotic Parade will take place at 5 p.m., with prizes for the best costumes and the best decorated bikes and wagons. Pets are welcome to participate in the parade too! Line-up begins at 4:45, and registration will be at the Franklin Lions Club Booth on the square throughout the day.
After an action-packed day, you can head over to The Park at Harlinsdale to watch some great live music, followed by a fireworks show! Friends of Franklin Parks is hosting the free, family-friendly event featuring two bands (People on the Porch at 6 p.m. and Rubiks Groove at 7 p.m.), concessions for purchase, beer tents and a kids’ area with old fashioned games and crafts. You’re invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to view the show and stay in your spots for a great view of the fireworks show around 9 p.m.!
The park opens at 5:30 p.m. Please note that no alcohol is allowed to be brought into city parks, and personal fireworks are prohibited because the grass is dry and poses a risk for fire.
Throughout the rest of the week and the weekend, there’s also plenty to see and do in Downtown Franklin – think of it as a staycation! Take a guided tour of Carnton or the Carter House, or the Lotz House civil war museum for a glimpse into the rich history of the Franklin area or explore the inner city with a tour from Franklin on Foot – they offer Food Tours, Ghost Tours and a Historic Walking Tour, so there are plenty to choose from!
This time is also a great opportunity to get friends and family together for a craft night at Craft Love Franklin or a meal at any of the many fabulous restaurants on and around Main Street!
