FRANKLIN, Tenn. – After what feels like months of rain, Franklin Art Scene returns on Friday, May 4 to will the sun to shine and kick-off the summer season. Join the Franklin community to dance around the maypole and celebrate this installment of the Downtown Franklin Art Crawl. More than 20 sites will participate in the event, which is hosted by the Downtown Franklin Association as a “tour of the arts.”
Featured artists in the May Art Scene include:
- Center for Sustainable Stewardship, located at 342 Main St. (rear entrance), will host artist Von Derry, a Franklin local wild woman and a pure free spirit.
- Finnleys, located at 435 Main St., will host Emily Newman and her visual art work.
- Franklin First United Methodist Church, located at 148 Fifth Ave. S., will feature Susan Hay and Dorma Tabisz, two area nature and landscape photographers.
- Gallery 202, located at 202 Second Ave. S., will host Tiffany Foss, a Plein Air Painter from Franklin, and Dave Pic’kell, a potter from Leiper’s Fork.
- Hope Church, located at 137 Fourth Ave S., will feature Katrin Keiningham, an art teacher who also sells her works online and at Peacock Lane in Nolensville, in addition to the occasional art crawl.
- Imaginebox Emporium, located at 311 N. Margin St., will showcase original illustrations created by Cory Basil and his novel “Perils of a Fishboy.”
- Moyer Financial, located at 400 Main St., will feature works by Amber Gould.
- O’More College of Design, located at 423 S. Margin St., will celebrate its graduating seniors. All buildings will be open to tour and see student work. Additionally, there will be an art installation celebrating the legacy of Eloise Pitts O’More, as this will be the last art scene before O’More moves to the campus of Belmont University.
- Outdoor Classic Structures, located at 203 Second Ave. S., will feature the works of Daron Frazier who is guided by color, harmony and all the principles of design and texture.
- Parks Realty, located at 415 Main St., will host Essence DeVonne, a wood carver/mix media artist whose subject matters and mediums range from hand carved pop art cartoons, musicians, to mix media butterflies and abstract paintings.
- The Cellar, located at 344 Main St., will feature the works of Mary Jo Graham.
- The Registry, located at 347 Main St., will host artist Scott Gray who works as a full-time physician in the Greater Nashville community.
- Tin Cottage, located at 334 Main St., will showcase artist Laci Fowler who specializes in abstract paintings of florals and landscapes.
- Twine Graphics, located at 304 Public Square, will feature Jonathan Todryk, an abstract artist who is interested in creating works that reflect the innate value of each person.
- Wellspring Financial, located at 517 Church St., will feature artist Holly Rhodes, a bright and colorful mixed media artist from Nashville.
- Winchester Antique Mall, located at 121 Second Ave. N., will host jewelry artist Marsha Mason Hunt who owns Marsha Hunt Studio creating one-of-a-kind jewelry for women.
The Downtown Franklin Association invites lovers of the arts to stop by all participating locations during the evening’s crawl, and the Art Scene trolley is also available for free rides throughout the event, sponsored by Genesis of Cool Springs.
